Hot Fishing at Fish Lake

The last week of January I was able to check another fishing dream off my list. I went to Fish Lake for two days of ice fishing! We stayed in Torrey, Utah the night before and drove to the lake early in the morning. We were one of the first people to arrive at the lake in the dark.
The lake basically did not have any snow on top and was as slippery as an ice rink. We could see cracks all over the ice and were weary at first whether or not the ice was safe.
Jason and I drilled several test holes as we ventured out onto the ice. We found an area on the North end  that had about twelve inches of ice.
After setting up our tents, it didn't take long before we started catching fish!
We caught a few good sized Rainbow trout right off the bat.
After a while, the triple J's moved to shallower water to chase after yellow perch!
Trout fishing slowed down so I moved my tent to about 30 feet of water. Like Jason, I got in on the hot yellow perch fishing. When the schools of perch came around, we were pulling fish after fish out of the water. Every now and then a school of trout came by to mix it up!
J, J, D, and T all got in on the perch action!
D decked out in his ice fishing hat!
I caught most the perch and rainbow trout with this tube jig.
Jason caught most his fish with this glow in the dark BRO BUG COLLECTION.
The biggest fish I caught this trip was the sucker fish in the photo above and below.
All in all, it was a great fishing trip! We all caught lots of fish, especially perch! I didn't catch any splake or lake trout, so I guess I'll just have to make another trip down there!
JOE'S TIP OF THE DAY

When we were leaving, we noticed a guy carrying a monster lake trout to his truck. The fisherman said he caught two macs, one weighed 26 pounds, and the second one was supposedly even larger. The fisherman said he used a Buzz Bomb Lure to catch the monster Lake Trout!
